Top 10 Chrome Extensions 2018

Intricately Right now I'm using the free trial version but it's one of the best apps out there if you want to know what a company is paying in terms of IP services like Hosting and CDN. If it's something you think you'd be interested in you should totally use my link to sign up. It gives me a week or so of free premium service. I cannot say enough great things about this application, both the chrome extension and the native application. If you work in technical sales and you're trying to sell SaaS, CDN, DNS, Hosting, etc to clients, these are the guys you want on your team.




Datanyze is probably my second most used extension at work. One 
click and I can see all the technology a website is using. It's a lot easier than scrubbing the HTML of the site myself. It's not the most reliable system in the world but it gives me a heads up of what I'm looking at. It also frequently has a list (including emails) of some of the people who work there. Score one for the home team.

Hootlet has been a gift from the internet gods. I manage multiple social media accounts for a variety of organizations and without the ability to schedule posts in one centralized location I would probably lose my mind. The best thing about Hootlet is that I can schedule a post from any site, anytime. Rather than having to copy whatever media/information I want to share to a variety of social media sites, I can just click on my favorite little owl, and he does the hard work for me.

Ok guys, confession time, I'm using this one right now. Grammarly helps me stay on top of my grammar, punctuation, and spelling when posting online. This is how I manage not to sound like an idiot most of the time. It's certainly not perfect, but I mean, who is? You can also add it to Word to help you with your computer as well. I think it WAY outperforms native spellcheck. 


SimilarWeb links me to other websites/apps that share common factors with whatever I'm looking at. It's amazing for finding prospects or when I'm boycotting a certain site but still need a similar service.

Sidekick by HubSpot not only tells me when my emails are being read but also if someone clicks one of the links I send them. It also allows me to integrate my emails into SalesForce.

Honey, WikiBuy, Ebates and Amazon Assistant are all the personal shopping assistants I need when shopping online. I MAY have an online shopping problem, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't be getting the best possible deals! These little guys tell me when something is cheaper elsewhere, and supply me with coupon codes when relevant, earn me cashback and allow me to save things to my Amazon shopping list. I can't recommend one over the others because they're all integral to my online shopping addiction.

At work I tend to have... well let's not talk about how many tabs I have open at a time. This extension automatically suspends the tabs I'm not using so they don't use up CPU.

Social Gaming Sites

I downloaded the Raptr client today. So far I've dug using it. Not only is it a cool social way to interact but it gives me points for activities I would do anyways. Those points add up and can get me discounts on stuff I'd buy anyways. So, fits my lifestyle.

I JUST discovered Gamers Hive at Orlando iX this weekend. They're a fresh new local start-up and I'm giving them a shout out here because they deserve it. The website needs some tweaks to run smoothly but I have faith that they're going to rock the social gaming world in no time.

I opened a Playfire recently and while I think the platform is cool I've encountered some glitches with xbox and playstation integration that I wouldn't expect from a site that's been around as long as they have. I did read in the forums that sometimes the integration just takes a while so we'll see how things go.

Maximizing your social networking potential

Ok, ladies, this one is mostly for you. Although men can be just as guilty of all the things I'm about to confront you about.

Social networking is power, and you're using it all wrong. If you put half the energy into your LinkedIn, or professional website, or even a relevant blog, that you do making sure your facebook profile picture is the best one of all the selfies you took today you'd almost definitely be further in life.

LinkedIn:

1. Sign up. Please. Do me this tiny favor. Even if you're working as a barista or a cashier. Make a profile. It's so easy. 
2. Fill in the information. This is really simple but can be time consuming. Put as much details on your profile as you can, including work experience, education, relevant associations, hobbies etc. HR people and recruiters use LinkedIn for candidate searching and they do it by key words. Make sure you put buzz words and lots of industry jargon on there. The location is very important as well, as recruiters look for potential candidates close to the client’s site first. Even if you are missing info, some is better than none, and don't be afraid of your background. THERE IS SOMEONE OUT THERE LOOKING FOR YOU.
3. Upload a photo. You obviously have good photos of yourself. I've seen your facebook's you have thousands of them. Pick on that you aren't wearing a birthday crown, or downing a drink in up there. Something that's mostly of your face and looks moderately professional.
4. Connect. Whore yourself out. You do it on instagram, and facebook and a million other sites that don't help you get anywhere with your career. Add your old boss. Your mom. That kid you did that project with that one time. Find people you know and add them. 
5. Get involved in groups and discussions. There has GOT to be something you care enough about to join the group on LinkedIn. Save the Whales, or Gaming, Professional Makeup... something.
6. Ask for recommendations. That business owner your dad knows who you helped with his iPhone last summer... he's probably on LinkedIn. See if he'll recommend you.
7. Stay active. If you login to LinkedIn half as much as you login to Facebook I promise someone will notice you.
8. Share relevant information. For this you have to have some kind of idea as to what you'd like to accomplish on LinkedIn whether it be professional networking or a chance at a new career. Find an article or study relevant to the field you want to move forward in and share it on LinkedIn.

• If you are already active in the professional world I highly recommend a 2nd Twitter and Facebook that you wouldn't mind being friends with your boss or clients on.
